Watershed Action Plan

Through earlier funding from Ohio EPA and member communities, CRWP developed the Chagrin River Watershed Action Plan in 1999. Since 1999, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) updated the required elements of these plans. Working with Ohio EPA and ODNR, CRWP updated this Plan to receive Conditional Endorsement in 2003 for the land protection and acquisition portions of the Plan.

In 2004 and 2005, CRWP received additional funding from ODNR through the Supplemental Grant and Watershed Coordinator program to revise the existing Chagrin River Watershed Action Plan to pursue full endorsement. The revision of the Plan will incorporate comments and suggestions from numerous other organizations including County Health Departments, County Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Park Districts, and other non-profit organizations interested in land protection activities within the Chagrin River watershed.

Although the revisions will be completed by August 2005, ongoing revisions will be completed based on 2003/2004 Ohio EPA sampling results, possible TMDL activities, comments from Ohio EPA/ODNR, as well as information gained through implementation of the Plan. CRWP’s Associate Director, Amy Holtshouse will act as the Chagrin River Watershed Coordinator and be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and future revisions of the Chagrin River Watershed Action Plan.
